Threshold 9, ROBOTS

Threshold 9...Robots
Ingredients    + GoldilocksConditions   = Complexity
Technology      Smart people and the       Robots
                         right technology

Complexity Questions

1. Population decay
2. It'll be good for humans, as well as the biosphere, because the world's population will decrease and resources will be plentiful and there will be less pollution from less people.
3. I'm most hopeful for me not having to go threw a United States invasion. I'm most fearful of a country starting a nuclear war.
4. Yes, along with collaboration.  I hope it will result in less wars and countries helping each other with resources.

Visions Of The Future

Henry Louis
I agree with us all being members of one family, the human community. We all come from the same place.

Sanjayan
I agree with specialization coming from agriculture and settlements of cities. It made sense to me when the man talked about how the person who invented the wheel no longer had to worry about getting good because he focused on the wheel and traded the wheel for food, like what most people do today.

Bill Gates
I am also excited about the futures that's about to come and what new inventions are going to be made.

The developed world keeps getting bigger
I agree with him that we can stop population growth by improving children survival and getting all the population of humans out of poverty.

Unit 10-Initial Thoughts

I believe the earth will be very complex and united in 100 years. I think there will be more poorer countries, also with less countries because the major power countries will take in other countries that can't provide for themselves. I bet the population will be a couple billion more then it is today, with the population growth slowing down dramatically. The physical Earth will look the same. I bet there will be more islands from land breaking apart and the fault line in California will break off. Technology will change and make most activities faster and less hands on. Like agriculture, agriculture will be done mostly by machines and all the farmers will have to do is put in coordinates for where the machines to farm. I also think medical care will be improved by everyone getting a "bar code" tattoo at the bottom of their foot at a certain age that will have all their information on it, as well as drivers license and other documentation. I think all of this because I don't believe our world is at a revolution stop. I think we will keep improving at everything we do.

Text 13

I believe that agriculturist had a better way of living. I think this because the hunter gathers had to work harder for their food and they didn't have  an as balanced diet. The agriculturist had plenty of food for themselves and for their towns which allowed for more jobs. Agriculture allowed for there to be towns and for people to live together. Agriculture lets people have more of a variety of food and a healthy diet. With there being less people having to gather food there were more people doing different jobs which led to entertainment and stores.

Text 12

Lee and Sahlins believe that the hunter gathers had it easier then we thought and they weren't poor. The hunter-gathers only got what was necessary to live which gave them less worries and complications then future generations. I agree and understand what they were saying, but I still think farmers had a better and easier life. I understand what they are saying because when you are just trying to get food and supplies for survival you don't have anymore needs or wants.

Text 10

I thought that the text should tell more about what the Kitavan people ate. These people must have a very healthy duet with very low fat to have small waists. I don't get how this island is so much different then the rest of Papua New Guinea. I think my understanding of the quality has become more complex by seeing that a group of people are healthier and more fit from their diet.

Text 4

In Catal Huyuk they have the factors of having a community, new tools, technology, and access to food. Living in towns allows you to be with your family, have friends, go to stores, and learn from others

Text 2

These tools allowed early civilizations to harvest some of their fields and supply food to their civilians. The shapes and materials allowed for those people in the past to do this. These tools allow for the factors of accessibility and variety of food. My conclusion matches with my guesses.

Explore

1.
Factors: the variety and accessibility of food, the population around me, the education available, technology, friends, tools, showers, money, cities and towns, stores, restaurants, ways to have fun, family, entertainment

2.
Depression, money, friends, family, health (like drug and alcohol abuse), quality of house, quality of properties, cleanliness, economy

4.
Agriculturalists had the better quality of life because they had better access to food which gave them more time and allowed them to establish communities. With less people gathering food, more people in the communities learned new abilities which led to new jobs and new tools/technologies.

Unit 6: My Civilization

My civilization will be called Terribilis Mundi (Latin for "awesome world"). My civilization will be located in the northern parts of Brazil. There will be three main cities with one Capital, called Vallis, which will be invetween the other two major cities Brenno (to the West) and Draco (to the East). Their will be weekly parties and, we will be a very social population. Our views will be based around friendship and fun.

Our religion will be Roman Chatholic. Everyone will be required to attend mass on Sunday mornings. After mass, there will be parties that will be thrown by the churches at the city/town centers. The parties will be around lunch time and there will be much food .There will be one main church for everyone to go to located by the city/town centers.
The government will be a Monarchy, with me being King. There will be a council of wise men underneath me to help with the laws and economy. The laws would be the Ten Commandments and that you must attend mass on Sundays. The laws will be written in the city/town centers. There will be prisons in the cities. There will be a police force in the cities and towns.

In school kids will have to take normall elementary classes till 5th grade. In these years they will learn the correct way to write, spell, and speek along with basic math, science, and history skills. After fifth grade students will need to choose a career catagory for their futures. They will then be taking classes based on what they had chosen. Theses classes will still teach you about a wide range of things. Once you are a junior your classes will then be based on certain careers that the individual will take.
Our art will be are building structures and how our cities will be organized. Our buildings will be advanced structures with attraction and art put into them. In Draco, there will be buildings on water with many beautiful bridges reaching from section to section of the city. The engineers (artist) that design these structures will be selected by my council.

Our cities will be fed by the food from are farms in the smaller towns and from the "food pastures"  where herds of animals will be raised and killed for their meat. These places will be well protected and will be businesses instead of individuals owning their own farming land. These fields will be huge and have many different types of  crops. Coffee, corn, rice, wheat,  soybeans,  and sugarcane will be our main crops.
How Terribilis Mundi will be started is that I will find new oil in Northern Brazil and from the oil I will gain much money. From my riches I will buy the land. After acquiring the land I will find men and woman to bring into my land from English speeding countries. I will higher my council. To start building my cities I will higher engineers and workers to build the main part of the city around the centers and all the small towns for my civilians to live at until the future.
If a archeologist discovered Terribilis Mundi 5000 years from now they would find a civilization like no other. They would see our cities of great complexity and creativity. They would find our huge churches and our city/town centers. If they found records they would see that we were very much into knowledge and control. They would learn about my role in the creation and how Terribilis Mundi was created. they would also learn about my council of wise men to help me with my decision making.

Unit 6 Post 2

The Chinese agriculture was much more organized and had more of a system. They had better houses to live in. They also had slaughter houses for their animals. The Chinese were able to have more crops and made more objects with their crops then the Neolithic people. The Chinese were able to have larger amounts of food from their crops and their slaughter houses.

Unit 6 Post 1

A. Men had jobs for collecting food and protecting the settlements which made them play a more dominant role in their societies. Men also did most of the farming and herding of animals. Woman, while men were usually away from their homes, would be at home or in the settlement taking care of the kids, weaving cloth, turning milk into cheese, and other jobs that required labor in one place.
B. The Neolithic people farming to produce larger amount of food, creating houses out of dried mud, creating new jobs, men/woman having certain jobs, the creation of classes, and the knowledge of how to use writing to keep information like records were all changes in the Neolithic Revolution that helped develope cities.
C. I think agriculture will keep playing a major role in the future because cities need a large amount of food for all their civilians and I think more cities and systemic agriculter developed more because of "collective learning", also, because more humans were traveling to new areas and shared their information.
